Check out our variety of Jen's Baked Goods that include cinnamon chip bread, crumb coffee cake, chocolate covered pretzels, and chocolate peanut butter truffles. These items along with the variety of cakes provide a great assortment of desserts and baked goods. Any of these items are available for take out and can be provided as a dessert tray...please call for details.

A special thanks goes out to Matt Batrus, the 4th generation of the Batrus family to work at the diner. Matt lives in Colorado and helps out during his summer break. Thanks for all the great help Matt...who knows maybe we'll branch out to a Colorado location. Good luck in school in the upcoming year and we look forward to having you back next summer.

In September of 2011, an addition was constructed to allow for more seating and updated rest rooms. This gives us the capability to handle small groups during the week for business meetings, breakfast and lunch meeting groups, and parties. During the weekend, the room is available for open seating and can accommodate groups with up to 20 people.

Tom & Joe's has been serving Altoona, Pennsylvania for over 75 years and has become a local institution providing a fun and energetic diner atmosphere. Founded by Tom Batrus and brother Joe in December 1933 at the original location shown above. Joe sold out in the late 1940s and Tom continued to run the business under the name Tom & Joes.

In 1956 Tom and Joe's moved to its current location with a completely remodeled diner including a lower dining room and upper diner section. The layout is very similar to how the diner is today.

In 2002, the upper section was remodeled by updating the seating, counter, and flooring. Some of the original decor was still maintained throughout the remodel including the knotty pine walls, counter tops, and table tops.

Tom and Joes is now in its third generation of management with Tom's grandson George Jr. now managing the daily operations. George Sr, the 2nd generation, passed away May 29th, 2008, but his memory lives on strong with the many pictures that highlight his service to the restaurant hanging up throughout the restaurant. He will be missed, but never forgotten.
